Wink The Massive 2 Man FOW Farming Guide!!!

This farming guide is designed for two level 20 ascended monks. It uses the basic principles of the invincible spirit bond monk that was where I originally got the idea. After doing many smite runs with 2 monks and an SS (the most efficient way to farm the Under World) I got bored as it was not a challenge because it was to easy and repetitive. So I decided to try Fissure of Woe. This was much more of a challenge as there where not only warriors and the odd elementalists but warriors, necros, mesmer, elementalists, monk and rangers.

The basic principle of the spirit bond monk is that you want every attack to it at least 60 damage. This is so that Spirit Bond will kick in healing you more than 60 (due to life bond and high protection prayers attribute level). This is why you are invincible.

Unfortunately life’s not perfect and not everything will hit you for 60 damage. This is why you want life bond and high protection prayers because u wont always get hit for 60 damage so u need to be healed more than 60 to make up for this.

To make sure you get hit 60 as much as possible you should take the armour with the lowest armour values possible. I wish I had my pre-searing armour but I deleted long ago so I have to make do with 15 armour from Ascalon or Tsunami village. Its best to get the armour that provides extra energy and don’t buy a chest piece. Obviously a superior vigor rune would be the best but a minor or major will do with no noticeable difference.

Tank set up (I play this part)

Armour
15AL with energy bonus for feet, legs and arms with a vigor and a minor divine favour rue
30AL +1 protection prayers scalp with minor rune of protection prayers.

Weapon
Enchantments last 20% longer helps and ranged weapons are good for luring so I use Kephets Refuge.

Attributes (without runes)
Protection 7
Illusion 10
Divine Favour The rest

Skills (Letters in brackets are what skills will be referred to as later in the guide)
Protective Spirit (PS)
Spirit Bond (SB)
Conjure Nightmare (CN)
Ancestors Visage (AV)
Sympathetic Visage (SV)
Essence bond (Essence)
Balthszars Spirit (Balths)
Blessed Signet (Blessed)
Holy Smiter

Armour
Full set of highest AL for monks (stuff from droks or better)
Scalp of smiting prayers with superior a smiting rune on.
Scalp of protection prayers with superior a protection prayers rune on.

Weapon
Any max damage weapon that’s requirement is in either protection or smiting.

Attributes (without runes)
Protection 12
Smiting 12
Divine The rest

Skills (Letters in brackets are what skills will be referred to as later in the guide)

Vital Blessing
Life attunement
Retribution
Holy Wrath
Bane Signet (BS)
Signet of Judgment (SOJ)
Purge Signet (Purge)
Rebirth

I would recommend before trying FOW to go to Elona Reach and practise killing the minators there till you are confidant enough to spend 1k on entry to FOW.

How to farm FOW

When the tank is fighting he must have PS and SB on him.

When you go into FOW you should cast Balths and Essense on yourself the smiter should cast retribution, holy wrath, (using smiting helm) , life attunment and Vital blessing (using his protection helm).
Don’t take the quest.

You will have two groups one to you left and the other to your right. The one in your left is smaller and has a monk in it.
The smiter should stay next to the ghost and do nothing.
The tank should cast PS then SB and agro the group on the left. Then run up to the shadow monk. There is a patrol of a shadow beast and warrior and you should also agro them but don’t agro the patrol of shadow beast and monk up higher on the cliff.
Then the tank should cast SV and AV this will drain the monks energy so he will not be able to heal so instead will attack you and die. The shadow beasts will cast spiteful spirits (SS) on the tank so the smiter should use Purge on the tank when he is hexed as SS only hits 37 so does not trigger SB so the damage from it is not healed. The smiter should then start attacking (and trying to interrupt) the shadow beasts with Bane and SOJ but only when they have stated attacking the tank. The tank should also attack the shadow beasts with CN trying to make sure they are always hexed. At the end of the fight either the shadow beasts or warrior will be alive. If the warriors are the smiter should try and interrupt healing signet. It the shadows are alive they should continue attacking them normally. If the tank starts dieing and his health goes below 200 the smiter should start tanking as the tank actually has no defence against the shadow beasts.
Then you should engage the lager group to your right after the tank has recharged. There is a mesmer here so it’s harder. When you agro the group the mesmer will soon cast shatter enchantment that will shatter the last enchantment you cast. I always cast PS then SB because PS last much longer and if it get shatter you only get hit 70 and the next few hits will not hot more than 70 if you cast SB then PS you can get hit 100’s from other attacks and soon be dead. When SB is shattered you should cast it again as soon as possible. By now the tank will probably have burning, empathy, SS and mark of pain on him so the smiter should use purge sig as the tank will be taking 67 damage each time he cast (from SS and empathy so SB will not heal). Do not try to dodge the firestorms as the heal you loads and kill the elementalists quickly.

A group of 2 warriors and a monk will be on the cliff if u continue straight on. Make sure the smiter stays back. Just before you agro the group cast PS and SB and run towards the monk. The warriors will run out towards you so it’s important that the smiter is back so the warriors don’t run to attack him. A shadow beast will pop up, then wait for the warriors and shadow beast to come to you (next to the monk) and cast SV and AV and CN on the shadow beast.

Again the smiter should stay back as you will have to lure the next group (to the left of the group u just killed). Lure them back a bit (towards the wall) because there is a patrol of a monk and shadow beast and u don’t want then to fight too. Again there is a mesmer here so get ready to recast SB then go up to the monks and cast SV and AV. Often 2 shadow beasts will pop up and attack you here but these help drain the monks energy.

Next go back to the ghost at the start and go left. Then turn right. There will be a group of 2 elementalists, warrior and mesmer. Fight these I hope you know the routine now. Run into the group so you cause a shadow beast to pop up so you can kill him too.

Then move onto the rangers and abbysals. Try not to agro too many abbysals as they are hammer warriors and will knock you down allot stopping you from casting and sometimes the rangers can interrupt also. Continue round the tower killing all rangers and abbysals. The smiter should use purge sig to get rid of deep wound as it slows down the killing.

Down in the valley to your left there are 2 warriors and a monk a shadow beast will also pop up here kill them.

Then the ghost will come and open the gate. Try to be there before him because if he dies so do you. When he opens the gate move forward a bit to stop the abbyslals coming out. Here you should try to cast PS and SB just before the gate opens. Use CN on the Shadow Beast.

Then get your reward open the chest and take the next quest.

Go out the door again and go straight and kill the 4 shadow guys then turn left and if you are quick enough you get to fight a few more shadow guys.

Now you have reached the undead as you do holy damage you will hit 2 times as highJ

The first group is slightly harder as it has loads of mesmers. They will cast shatter, energy drain and chaos storm on you so make sure you have full energy before you attack. First SB will shatter so recast the they will cast chaos storm which you must move to the (left or right) out of then they will die.

There are several pop ups of rangers here like on the right about 4 seconds run from the last group so be ready to cast PS and SB. They use traps so don’t go and pick up the stuff the drop as you and especially the smiter could die.

Then kill the rest of the undead. There is often a chest outside the shadows camp but its 99% purple so don’t use it unless you’re really rich. There is a ghost camp with 3 ghosts in it. There are shadow warriors here and some skeleton ranger pop ups. Go into the camp and cause the shadow beast to pop up then go to the monk and cast SV and AV to drain its energy. Then take the quests.

Kill all the undead and go to the shadow camp. Here there is a monk boss and to liech priests (big dragons). You can kill the dragons easily by making sure u the smiter cast pure sig when you are dazed. I normally lure it back a bit incase I die here so I can be resurrected easier. It can strip your enchants so be ready to cast PS again. I normally wear a 50AL chest piece here as the dragon will hit you for over 740 (i.e. 1 hit your dead without PS). Do the same for the other dragon then go into the camp and lure the shadow beast so that you can use SV and AV to drain the monk bosses energy and kill him.

Then go to the gates of the forgemaster. Kill the warriors here and when the large group of shadow beasts come RUN then lure them to a group of skeletons. Where they will fight and stay.

Your inventory will probably be full now and hopefully have a few shards and gold’s too.

This part is hard and much easier in a 3 man team.

There will be some mesmers and monks but you cant kill them all so kill as many as you can then go inside the tower and lure a few guys out to the monks and mesmers then use SV and AV to drain the monks energy and kill everything.
Then kill the rest of the groups and protect the forgemaster and then do what ever you want.

This is my first guide I have written I hope you enjoyed it.
I will be happy to answerer any questions or queries so leave them here.
This build can still be improved that’s why I’m posting it here so more people can try it out and help perfect it.

My in game name is the healing hand

I’m going on holiday so I wont be on for a few weeks but will still b able to access the internet so I can read you replies.

Thank you for reading hope it helps!!!

It works as two monks were giving out free rides to FoW. I was the Barrager and we had a SS necro. Well, we started off great and ended up better. It went faster than planned as we had more damage. Better drops (I got 6 shards, yay!) So, we added each other to friends list and sometimes go do FoW runs.

Look, this thing was designed by two brothers and your builds are really not exactly right.

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=3031254 This is the original UW build, for fow it's the same with only two modifications.

That's a nice mod of their build and very cool. I run a version of the original invci build but with mantra of concentration for UW. I also run the same set up in FOW with an additional Smiter monk who uses archane echo to keep SB up forever along with scourge healing et al for the monks. However I'll def check out your setup as that is a great way to deal with the monks. Have you tried it down on the beach yet or in the spider cave? As its great fun to take revenge on the skales for all the problems they cause with solo warrior on runs to the cave. Cheers again for the heads up and very detailed and well written guide.

Bokocasso the guy gave credit to them already if you read it.

Hi,

I farmed it with you, dont know if you remember me IGN Ratzinger The Pope =)

It worked well, and we managed to kill shadow groups with 2 monks. Still, i prefer the Spirit Shackles version.

Good build though, as granted me loads of cash =D

Well im the one that designed the UW dual build using Spirit Bond.. and i dual FoW also.. but with 2 changes.

Tanker not ele resistance but arcane echo 2 keep Spellbreaker up.
The smiter takes in his free slot Scourge Healing... thats how we make it and can even clear the Battlefield, Spidercave... all groups with 2 monks we can have.

i posted my 3 man FoW build a while back but it didnt really get much attention. With a SB monk and Co. (smiter, SS, and BH ranger/ Power Block mesmer) you can 4 man Forgemaster in a hour.

to think that Bluesteel running acadamy is asking 300k for a run that takes 5 people and a hour and 25 min.

id be rich if i had enough time to do it alot.

Pretty hard for 600hp, since no spellbreaker and no divine boon, id say that conjure nightmare shud be changed to Spellbreaker... and the 2man is slow, and u can take some places/goes slow at some parts... id suggest that u try to only use SV. Then u can bring SB and Divine boon, Well, just a suggestion
